The Liver has a dual blood supply. The Hepatic Artery is responsible for the delivery of oxygen-rich blood the Liver Parenchyma. The Hepatic Artery is responsible for around 25% of the blood flow through the Liver. The Portal Vein supplies 75% of the blood flow, carrying nutrient rich blood from the Gastrointestinal System. The Blood then passes through the Liver, via the Liver Microcirculation, finally entering the Hepatic Veins. The Hepatic Veins then drain into the Inferior Vena Cava.
