Celiac Trunk

The Celiac Trunk is responsible for the blood supply of the Stomach, Liver, Pancreas, Spleen and the 1st and 2nd parts of the Duodenum. It is a branch of the the Abdominal Aorta, and is at the T12 Vertebral level


Branches of the Celiac Trunk (T12)

  1. Left Gastric Artery

  2. Common Hepatic Artery

  3. Splenic Artery

Celiac Trunk (T12) Chart

  • There are two main Anastomoses to remember which are related to the Celiac Trunk

    • Left Gastric Artery - Right Gastric Artery → Along the Lesser Curvature of the Stomach

    • Left Gastro-Epiploic Artery - Right Gastro-Epiploic Artery → Along the Greater Curvature of the Stomach

  • Left Gastric Artery - Right Gastric Artery → Along the Lesser Curvature of the Stomach

  • Left Gastro-Epiploic Artery - Right Gastro-Epiploic Artery → Along the Greater Curvature of the Stomach

  • The Celiac Trunk is an Anterior Branch of the Abdominal Aorta

  • The Celiac Trunk Supplies the Foregut

    • Accessory Hepatic Artery

    • Absent Left Gastric Artery

    • Absent Splenic Artery
